Antonín Procházka

1882 – 1945

Antonín Procházka belongs to the generation of the early modern Czech painting of the beginning of the 20th century. He studied at the Academy of Arts, Architecture and Design in Prague, he participated i both exhibitions of the Osma group and soon started to focus on modern painting – from the initial expressionistic creative output he progressed to cubist-like period and in around the middle of the 1920s he started to work in the spirit of Neoclassicism. He was always focusing on still lifes, landscapes as well as figural art, later experimented with various techniques and also started to work as a sculptor.
