Ferdinand Engelmuller

1867 – 1924

One of the longest studying pupils of the famous Mařák's special school of landscape painting at the Prague Academy (1889 - 1897). In his mature period the artist, under the influence of Art Nouveau, especially in the technique of pastel but also in oil painting developed a motif range of park seclusions with rotting leaves and balustrades while he often managed to bring the fairytale to the point of decadent quality.
