Gustav Macoun

1892 – 1934

Eminent Czech landscape painter, a pupil of Alois Kalvoda and Antonín Slavíček. He was above all inspired by the region of the Bohemian Paradise, Kameničky and the Bohemian-Moravian Highlands that he represented in the Post-Impressionistic spirit. He spent the last years of his life in Svobodné Hamry where a memorial was made for him.
