Václav Jansa

1859 – 1913

Czech painter, landscapist and illustrator. He studied at the Prague Academy with the painter of history scenes, Antonín Lhota, later in Vienna with Eduard Peithner. He liked to paint the Prague seclusions and in 1891 he even received a commission from the Municipal authority to paint seclusions and historic sights of the capital that were to be ruined owing to the so-called redevelopment act.
